Don’t Head to Softball Camp Without Packing These Things
Summer is awesome for a few different reasons. The weather is beautiful, school isn’t in session until the fall and there’s time to participate in a Revolution Softball Camp. Whether you’re a first-time camper or a seasoned veteran, everyone has one thing in common: you can’t reap the full benefits of camp without bringing the proper gear!
Our Revolution Softball Camps are designed for athletes who want to learn, develop and enhance their skills in all phases of the game. We’re fortunate to have some of softball’s best coaches and players on board who are eager to help you improve and become the best softball player you can be!
However, like we just mentioned, none of that can happen if you don’t come prepared with the right tools so you can get to work and have a good time upon stepping onto the field. We offer four types of softball camps: overnight camps, day camps, extended day camps and team camps. Whichever one you choose to register for will dictate what you’ll pack, but all the basics will apply.
Alright, enough stalling, what’s typically needed for softball camp? When you’re packing a bag, double-check to make sure all these things are in there:
- Health form
- Glove, Bat, Helmet and Cleats
- If you’re a catcher, bring your gear
- A water bottle to stay hydrated
- Both on-field and off-field clothes
- Sunscreen
- A hat to keep the sun out of your eyes
- Sliding Pads
If you’re going to be at one of our overnight camps, you’ll need to bring the above eight things, along with the following:
- Pajamas
- Bedding linens, a pillow and a blanket or sleeping bag
- Toiletries
- An alarm clock (which will probably be your phone…so a phone charger too!)
- Spending money (our recommendation is a limit of $50)
- A key deposit check made out to “Revolution Softball Camps”
- Flip flops/shower shoes
This may seem like a lot of stuff, but it’s not too bad. Most – if not all – of the things listed above are probably what you’d want to pack for a tournament where you’ll have to stay in a hotel for at least a couple nights. So, chances are you’re already used to getting all this stuff in a bag and in the trunk of a car before heading out.
The best cure to never forgetting any of your equipment is probably forgetting something just once and then have to deal with using someone else’s glove, bat, etc. We hated when that happened to us back in the day! Our top priority is to put you in the best position to improve and succeed on the softball field. Part of that is feeling comfortable with the equipment you’re using. We’re all protective over our gloves because it’s ours and we’ve broken it in the exact way we love the most.
After putting in all that effort, it only makes sense to go through a bunch of instruction at softball camp with your favorite equipment! Use this list as a general guide to make sure you don’t leave anything behind before heading to the field.
