Are you a softball fan? Are you looking for a way to spend your summer that’s fun, challenging, and will help you up your game no matter what position you play? Look no further than a summer softball camp! These camps are an excellent way to spend time competing, training, learning new techniques, and making new friends and teammates along the way. If this would be your first time checking out a softball camp, you may have a few questions about what they are or how they work. That’s why we’ve put together this guide! Here you’ll find a quick rundown of what you’ll be doing at camp, who’ll be helping you, and more. Let’s dive right in!
What Are Summer Softball Camps?
Softball camps are camps created with one purpose: Making you a better softball player. Revolution Softball Camps can be found around the country, and feature qualified coaches and top-quality training facilities to help you round out your game. With a player-to-coach ratio of 8 to 1, there’s always someone to help you. You’ll be challenged every day through drills, scrimmage games and training sessions focused on your position. Camps also feature room and meals, as well as time to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. You’ll learn from the best coaches, work with teammates that are just as passionate about the game as you are, and you’ll have fun while doing it!
A Camp for Every Need
No matter what you need to improve on, no matter what your schedule’s like, there’s a softball camp for you. Revolution Softball Camps are open for girls of all skill levels aged 8 to 18. For the player with the packed schedule, day camps run from 9 am to 4 pm 5 days a week, and feature offensive and defensive training, position work, and drills to help you learn how to work with your team. Lunch and a relaxing swim are also provided.
Those looking for a bit more training can sign up for extended day camps, which run from 9 am to 8:30 pm–an extra 4 and a half hours. With an extended camp, you’ll get all the intense training and exercises of day camp, but you’ll also be treated to dinner and full scrimmage games where you can put what you’ve learned to the test against your fellow campers.
For the full camp experience, campers can check out overnight camp, where they’ll stay in the dorms overnight and begin their day with a healthy breakfast at 7:30 am. It’s a solid 5-day week of softball action! No matter what your schedule and skill level is like, there’s a camp for you.
What’s A Full Day At Camp Like?
Overnight campers start with breakfast at 7:30 am. Day campers arrive at 9 am, and after stretches, everyone jumps right into position work. You’ll address specific skills for your position – whether that’s turning double plays at second base, relaying fly balls, or perfecting your power hitting. After offensive and defensive stations, it’s time for lunch and a swim.
Team drills help you learn to synergize with your teammates, and after some more position-specific work, day campers head home at 4 pm. Extended day and overnight campers grab dinner, and then it’s time for scrimmages – the moment to put everything you’ve learned into action during real game situations.
What Sets Revolution Camps Apart
Revolution Softball Camps were specifically designed for athletes to learn, develop, and enhance their skills in all phases of softball. This happens by providing instruction from some of the sport’s top coaches in a positive and fun atmosphere. With everything we do, we have our five core values driving the bus: excellence, fun, improvement, safety, and sportsmanship.
Our campers constantly tell us that their week at camp was the most memorable week of their entire summer, and it’s because of our top-notch coaching staff, a progressive instructional curriculum, and the superior customer service we provide up until, during and even after camp.
We know that a lot of players come because they’re serious and competitive, but softball is a game, and it’s meant to be fun. That’s why we develop a creative daily schedule that fosters meaningful interaction with all campers to bring about lasting memories and friendships.
A low camper-to-coach ratio allows our staff to personally get to know each camper and be invested in their individual development. Letting your child be in the care of other adults can be unnerving for parents. We ensure that there’s a safe and healthy camp environment at all times, thanks to a responsible staff that supervises all camp activities.
Last, but most certainly not least, we want to develop the whole person. A week is not a long time at all, but we practice teamwork through leadership opportunities that lead to on-field lessons of honesty, integrity, and mutual encouragement.
Our staff does this so consistently because of our official partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance. We’re proud to employ staff members who are Double-Goal Certified with the PCA.
What Do I Need To Bring?
First of all, you’ll need your gear. Bat, glove, helmet, cleats, slide pads, and any position-specific gear like a catcher’s mitt or mask. Make sure to bring shorts and shirts to play in, any clothes you’d like for off the field, and swimwear/towel for the pool. Make sure not to wear any tank tops. Also, camp can get hot, so we suggest you bring a hat and some sunscreen.
If you’ll be staying overnight, bring pajamas, bedding or a sleeping bag, a pillow, and any toiletries you’ll want. You may also want to bring along a little spending money!
